MEWA-Bad Ostritz

With spacious sunbathing lawns, space for table tennis, volleyball and more, bathing equipment to borrow, a beach library and a kiosk, the MEWA-Bad Ostritz provides the ideal conditions for a fun-filled summer's day. Many events take place at the MEWA-Bad, such as the poolside cinema.

Waldbad Herrnhut

The Waldbad is located on the outskirts of Zittau, very close to the parking lot on Uttendörferweg. This well-maintained facility was opened back in 1907. The Waldbad is considered to be one of Germany's oldest paddling pools. It is open daily from mid-May to mid-September from 1 pm to 7 pm in good weather.

Jonsdorf mountain spa

Situated on the slope of the Jonsberg with a beautiful view of the surrounding area. The mountain pool is open from July to August. Solar-heated, it offers a large swimming pool and a shallow pool for the little ones. A large sunbathing lawn, basketball and volleyball court, playground and bouncy cushion invite you to linger.

Swimming fun in the fresh mountain water at the Waldstrandbad Großschönau. With a water surface area of 20,000 square meters, it is the largest outdoor pool far and wide. Oderwitz public swimming pool

The beautifully designed pool consists of a large swimming pool with separate swimmers' and non-swimmers' areas. Attractions: Slide, 3-meter diving tower, 1-meter diving board and starting bridge, large sunbathing lawns, a volleyball court, a small playground and a snack bar invite you to enjoy a relaxing day of swimming.

Experience exhibition in the Nature Park House

"Experience inside - discover outside" - that is the motto of the adventure exhibition in the Zittauer Gebirge Nature Park House. Visitors can actively go on a discovery tour with all their senses. Young explorers are invited to answer the questions of the Querxe in the exhibition and in the nature park garden in order to receive the Junior Ranger Pass.

The Great Lenten Shroud of Zittau

The Great Lenten Shroud from 1472 is on display in the world's largest museum showcase in the Church of the Holy Cross Museum. The 8.20 m high and 6.80 m wide cloth tells the biblical story from the creation of the world to the Last Judgement in 90 pictures in a chessboard pattern. The cross cemetery is a testimony to civic sepulchral culture.

Franciscan Monastery Museum

The small Zittau Lenten cloth from 1573 (4.15 m x 3.40 m) shows the crucifixion of Christ, framed by 30 symbols of his passion. The Franciscan monastery also houses a baroque chamber of art and curiosities, the epitaph treasure in the monastery church, a picturesque monastery courtyard, an armory and changing exhibitions.

Local history museum of the town of Herrnhut

In the museum you can learn a lot about Herrnhut's local history and, closely linked to this, the history of the Moravian Church. At the heart of the house are three originally preserved living rooms from the Biedermeier period. The many original pieces of furniture, paintings and clocks bring the living culture of the time to life. Special exhibitions complete the offer.

In the museum, you can immerse yourself in the time of robbers, smugglers, linen weavers and half-timbered houses. Marvel at the originally furnished farmhouse, bedroom and weaving room from around 1800. In a cross-vaulted room, you can learn interesting facts about the unique polished slate deposit in Seifhennersdorf. The GDR exhibition presents around 1,000 exhibits.

The ZVON area (Zweckverband Verkehrsverbund Oberlausitz Niederschlesien) lies between Bischofswerda, Zittau, Görlitz and Weißwasser. Trains operated by the railroad companies Die Länderbahn GmbH (TRILEX) and Ostdeutsche Eisenbahn GmbH (ODEG) run here. They form the local rail passenger transport (SPNV) in our region. Depending on the route, trains run every half hour to every two hours.

The bus services in the ZVON area are varied. Eight transport companies operate city and regional services for you.
Supplemented by Plus and TaktBuses, which provide connections at train stations and shorten transfer times at important stops. Designed and financed by the districts of Bautzen, Görlitz and the city of Görlitz, on whose behalf the transport companies operate on a daily basis.

A ride on the Zittau narrow-gauge railroad is an extraordinary experience for young and old. The trains run between Zittau and the spa town of Oybin or the spa town of Jonsdorf.

What is the Oberlausitz Guest Card?

The Oberlausitz Guest Card is a card for overnight guests which includes numerous free admissions and discounts as well as free use of local public transport in the ZVON tariff area.

How does the Oberlausitz Guest Card work?

Guests pay a guest tax according to the statutes of their vacation resort. This is collected by the hosts on site or by bank transfer and then paid to the respective municipality. The participating municipalities use this guest tax to finance the Oberlausitz guest card, which guests can use during their stay. They receive a printed card from their host or a DigiCard directly on their cell phone. With this guest card, you can enjoy free admission and attractive discounts as well as free public transport throughout the ZVON fare zone.

Is there a digital version of the Oberlausitz Guest Card?

Yes, the card can be used both in printed and digital form on the smartphone.

Who receives the guest card?

Guests staying overnight in the municipalities of Großschönau, Jonsdorf, Olbersdorf and the town of Zittau and its districts pay a guest tax to their landlord. In return, they receive the Oberlausitz guest card and benefit from attractive discounts, free admission and can use public transport free of charge throughout the ZVON fare zone.
It doesn't matter whether guests are staying in a hotel, guesthouse, vacation apartment, vacation home, tent or caravan.

Which means of transport can be used with the Oberlausitz Guest Card?

The guest card is valid as a ticket for all public transport in the ZVON fare zone.

For journeys on the Zittau narrow-gauge railroad, a Historik surcharge of €10 per person per day must be paid.

The ZVON conditions of carriage apply.

When do the guest tax and the guest card apply?

The guest tax will be levied from 01.05.2025 for overnight guests in the municipalities of Großschönau, Jonsdorf, Olbersdorf and the town of Zittau as well as in the associated districts. From this date, guests will receive the Oberlausitz guest card. The Oberlausitz Guest Card is valid for the duration of the booked stay. The corresponding offers can be used depending on the respective opening hours.
A refund of unused services is not possible.

Do guests who have already booked have to pay the new guest tax from 1.5.2025?

Yes, the charge is independent of the booking period and is levied during the period of stay for the use of tourist services in the town and the guest card benefits.

How long is the Oberlausitz Guest Card valid for?

The Upper Lusatia Guest Card is valid during the booked stay in the participating municipalities.

Is there a minimum length of stay to receive the Oberlausitz Guest Card?

You will receive the Upper Lusatia Guest Card from just one booked night in the participating municipalities.

Who is exempt from the guest tax?

Exempt are children up to the age of 6, severely disabled persons with a GdB >80 with a severely disabled person's pass and an accompanying person of severely disabled persons with a "B" in their pass, trainees, persons pursuing an education or profession with a second home, bedridden patients with a medical certificate who cannot use spa or recreational facilities, participants in school trips, private visitors (free admission to friends and relatives).

Who receives a discount?

Pupils up to the age of 15 receive a 50% discount.

Where can I get the Oberlausitz guest card?

You will automatically receive the Upper Lusatia Guest Card from your host on arrival.

For the time being, only overnight guests staying in the municipalities of Großschönau, Jonsdorf, Olbersdorf and the town of Zittau and its districts will receive the Upper Lusatia Guest Card.

Do I have to take the guest card with me and present it for all activities?

Yes, please always take your guest card with you and present it without being asked at all activities, services and partners in order to benefit from discounts and reductions.

Is one guest card enough for the whole family?

No, each family member needs their own personalized guest card.

What can I do if I have lost my guest card?

If you have lost your Oberlausitz guest card, please contact your landlord. They can issue you with a new card.

Alternatively, you can also use your digital guest card at any time.

Can I buy the Oberlausitz Guest Card even if I am staying in a town without a guest tax?

The Oberlausitz guest card cannot be purchased. You will automatically receive the guest card if you stay overnight in the municipalities of Großschönau, Jonsdorf, Olbersdorf or the town of Zittau and the associated districts and pay the guest tax in accordance with the statutes.
Guests staying in other places do not currently receive an Oberlausitz guest card, even if they are prepared to purchase one.
